Relapse Prevention

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”181181″]Relapse does not have to be a part of the recovery process, and can be avoided. Our objective in developing relapse prevention is a positive perspective that reflects, “Recovery Maintenance”.

While relapse may occur, our outlook is to strengthen and continue the process of recovery by incorporating all areas that assist each individual to continue abstinence and improve wellness and live a quality life. Effective coping skills, strengthening of relationships and increased self-awareness are key components to sustaining recovery and achieving and maintaining balance.

“Hope is the catalyst of the recovery process.” In an effort to avoid relapse and support the concept of recovery maintenance, at Enlightened Solutions, we address the four major dimensions that support a life in recovery: Health, Home, Purpose and Community. Our sober living component monitors our clients to ensure a safe and stable environment while lending support to those in early stages of recovery. Focusing on overall health, all food is organic and wellness provisions are offered incorporating the holistic concept of body, mind and spirit. A full menu of comprehensive services such as Reiki, Yoga, and Massage are utilized as part of our personal wellness goals. Community events are scheduled to allow persons to actively participate in healthy activities, without a chemical using focus as they mature and rise to create life purpose in becoming a productive member of society.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ back_color=”color-green” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”143305″ back_color_type=”uncode-palette” shape_dividers=””][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ position_vertical=”middle” align_horizontal=”align_center” gutter_size=”3″ style=”dark” overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ width=”1/1″ uncode_shortcode_id=”188985″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”199990″]Should relapse occur, it is addressed through positive support, without enabling. Our team of professionals, address each individual’s stressors and assist in identification of life areas that contributed to a regression of behavior, leading to relapse. Support networks such as family members and sponsors are strongly encouraged to remain an active part of this process so that individuals and their loved one’s continue to recover from this disease.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Spiritual Care & Mentoring

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”213493″]During your search for addiction treatment, you might be hard-pressed to find a program that will openly talk about spirituality and mentorship as a core philosophy in their approach to recovery. As we conceived the mission and philosophy for our addiction and mental health treatment programs here at Enlightened Solutions, we wanted to build in tools to address the myriad of things that could impact the mind and body of those addicted.

By giving our clients a full complement of ways to find joy in sober living, we help them to reintegrate back into their families, and to break free from substance dependency once and for all. The best way we could think of to accomplish this was to make sure we keyed into the heart of a person, holistically and spiritually.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”121282″]Mind, Body, Spirit. We need all three.
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”805475″]As an integral part of our three-sided treatment diagram, which we address and thread through everything you will experience here, the mind opens through spiritual connection and will then influence the body to regain strength and establish the will to beat the hold of addiction on that person. Clients will learn the properties of our tiered system that targets the things that create a whole, complete individual. If we want treatment to be effective and long-lasting, we must honor the idea that one section can’t stand alone without the others closely attended to as well.

Every individual involved in our therapy treatments and experiential offerings has a dedication to our clients, and upholds this philosophy of an all-in-one focus. We want to make sure you get everything you need to help you reclaim your life and uncover those things you have been missing. Our clients reap the benefits from our spiritual care and mentoring offering, because when you’re in the throes of addiction, you might have either simply forgotten the need to care for this spiritual center, or may not have even discovered it yet.

[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”419739″]Why We Require Spirituality in Ourselves
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”191000″]When you take away the drugs, it leaves a big void. This needs to be filled with some kind of Higher Power. Whatever term you find comforting for you and your family is what we encourage you to nourish here as you make your way through your recovery. Spirituality doesn’t necessarily mean religion, but anything you find comfort in that can be shared with loved ones and makes you feel complete. When our clients first enter into our holistic treatments, they may feel uneasy or closed off to the thought of therapy. The reason we feel this way whenever we experience a new thing in our lives is that we have not explored what it would feel like to surrender to a higher power, something divine and comforting, so we’re nervous and afraid. When we nurture our spirituality, we find the strength to enjoy our experiences and find support in those that share our vision.

[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”447037″]Higher Success Rate with Spiritual Access
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”666595″]Those that find something to drive them forward, such as a belief in nature or a religious aspect of themselves, are less likely to relapse after treatment. We integrate a focus on spirituality into our relapse prevention skill planning and life skill integration that each client can carry over into their everyday lives long after their time with us comes to a close. All of our clients are encouraged to take part in this program, because it’s another lifeline to use in times of difficulty. There will be some hard times in your life after treatment, but we hope to give you a firm foundation while you’re here, and continue to build you up and support you out there in the world, the wonderful and challenging world you’ve been waiting to embrace fully.

We see incredible strength in every one of our clients as they step into something that can free them from living a life that is less than what they deserve. You as a person, a whole person, deserve to be happy and well, but it takes work and a belief that you can be better with support and a happiness that comes from within. Spirituality can help you find that space inside of yourself to feel happiness and cherish your life as it can be if you truly want it. At Enlightened Solutions, we know that some people may have a deep rooted desire to feel this peace and love come from within, they just don’t know where to begin.

Trauma Track

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”130830″]“Trauma” can mean many things. It can encompass grief and loss, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, bullying, childhood abuse, or domestic violence, as well as witnessing or being involved in a distressing event.

It can also include some of the experiences clients may have had as part of their lifestyle associated with addiction, such as being a perpetrator, witness, or victim of violence, as well as prostitution or sex work. At Enlightened Solutions we recognize the role that trauma has played in the lives of many of our clients. We also recognize the importance of addressing how trauma response symptoms may influence substance abuse and a client’s possibility of relapse. To ensure that we create therapies and programs to help patients deal with these issues, we employ a full-time staff member who is a dually-licensed clinical therapist with a special certification in the treatment of trauma.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”334455″]Trauma symptoms as identified in the DSM-V include:
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”206982″]

  • Intrusive symptoms (flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts and body sensations)
  • Avoidance symptoms (attempts to avoid things that remind the person of the trauma, such as thoughts, conversations, people, places, sounds, situations, or images)
  • Negative cognition or mood symptoms (depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, shame, blame, anger, horror, negative thoughts about oneself, others or the world, dissociative symptoms, fuzzy memory of the events, and lack of positive emotions)
  • Altered reactions (irritability, hypervigilance or always being “on edge”, aggressive behavior, self-destructive behavior, difficulty with interpersonal relationships, poor concentration and poor sleep)

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”139286″]Evidence-based treatment of trauma occurs in three phases. The focus of our trauma work at this level of care is to build and maintain “phase 1” trauma treatment. We do not engage in what is often referred to as “deep trauma work”, or phase 2 work, as it has been shown through research that doing so with clients this early in their recovery process is contraindicated and can cause more harm than good. Instead, we focus on taking the time to lay the necessary groundwork for clients to continue their recovery from both addiction and past trauma.

Phase One of trauma treatment is centered on establishing the client’s ability to create a sense of safety and to stabilize their trauma symptoms. Clients work on identifying the ways in which their trauma continues to impact them, and understanding the feelings that they experience as a result. People with a history of trauma, especially those in early addiction recovery, encounter great difficulty in regulating their emotions. In this group, we work with clients to build the skills needed to regulate emotions and self-soothe when overwhelmed, and we teach grounding techniques that can be applied when they are experiencing symptoms of trauma.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ back_color=”color-green” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”984061″ back_color_type=”uncode-palette” shape_dividers=””][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ style=”dark” overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ width=”1/1″ uncode_shortcode_id=”203876″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”944682″]We utilize grounding techniques pulled from a Seeking Safety and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) perspective, as well as bilateral stimulation techniques, although the group is not solely focused on skills training. We also utilize different meditation practices, inner child work, and evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches.

We do offer a fully adherent DBT track and generally recommend that clients engaging in the Trauma Track also engage in the DBT track for additional support and skills training.

We base each trauma group on what the group has identified that they need to work on each week regarding their trauma symptoms or the relationship between their trauma and addiction. We also utilize different meditation practices, inner child work, and evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches.

Trauma groups meet weekly in a small group setting. Many individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly that which has occurred within the context of relationships with others, have great difficulty with trust. This small group setting allows clients to work on building a sense of trust and cohesion. This group also serves as a platform to offer clients education on trauma and to teach the practices mentioned above. Many individuals who experience trauma symptoms lack education about why they continue to respond to certain triggers long after the trauma has occurred. We hope that by giving clients an understanding of the role of the brain and its survival response to trauma we can assist in normalizing and reducing shame and stigma, and increase their ability to manage their symptoms to help them succeed in recovery. We base each trauma group on what the group has identified that they need to work on each week regarding their trauma symptoms or the relationship between their trauma and addiction.

Clients who indicate a desire to work further on their trauma are also assigned to the individual caseload of one of our clinicians with specific trauma training.

For those clients whom it is clinically appropriate to process a bit deeper while in treatment, we offer Brainspotting Therapy.

If clients choose to continue to address their trauma after their completion of our program, a referral to a trauma specialist is included as a part of their discharge plan.

Although much like recovery from substance use disorders, recovery from trauma is something that is life-long and on-going, we hope that by engaging in the trauma track here at Enlightened Solutions clients can begin their path toward healing in a safe and supported way and walk out of our doors with a renewed sense of hope, safety, and belief in the power of resiliency.

Wellness and Nutrition Groups

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”636977″]

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
~Hippocrates

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”414163″]Everything we build upon in addiction treatments at Enlightened Solutions comes from the basic elements of nurturing the Earth and our bodies so we can achieve a truly holistic lifestyle. Respecting the body and building our strength through proper nutrition can not only offer physical energy during treatments, but also clear the mind and loosen the tightness in our chests caused by guilt and stress.

Feeding our bodies processed foods and depriving our system of the vitamins and minerals required for healing renewal takes its toll on every aspect of our lives. If we combine that with the consumption of addictive substances, we’re completely neglecting our well-being as living, breathing, and evolving human beings. While we offer dual diagnosis and detox to clear the mind and remove substances from the body, we also must address what’s missing nutritionally to help us reach the goal of complete wellness from the inside out.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”163743″]Wellness and Nutrition in Groups
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”519314″]Some treatment centers work on nutrition and wellness in private or individual settings, but here at Enlightened Solutions we work in groups, because its been our experience that those who learn wellness and nutrition in a group environment tend to be more successful in recovery. We can share experiences and create a buddy system to help someone stay on track – when you’ve made your wellness and nutrition goals known to another person, you’re more likely to stick to them.

For every client in our program, it comes down to the fact that they’re all learning something new and experiencing new sensations as they remove the toxic drugs and alcohol from their bodies. When we start eating well and consuming the foods that promote clear, healthy thought processes, we can begin to feed the many emotions required for the mind, body, and spirit connection. Think back to the Enlightened Solutions logo description – if you connect all the colors of the chakras with corresponding foods to nourish every part of you, you can unlock so many things in your body and spirit that can change your perspective on life and how you feel on a daily basis.

[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”337633″]Nutrition at Enlightened Solutions
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”100485″]Our Executive Chef nourishes the body with fresh juices, smoothies and organic lunches. Our Certified Nutritionist has worked with our Executive Chef to prepare menus that help heal the body specifically for those who suffer with Substance Use Disorder. We will work with any special dietary restrictions.

Some of the Life Skills groups at Enlightened Solutions involve clients learning how to cook. Cooking is therapeutic for so many people, and as you cook, not only are you occupied with following a recipe and paying attention to portions, but you’re engaged in the creativity that’s required in preparing something all your own. We’re also more apt to appreciate the foods we eat when we understand how much work and planning goes into creating the dish. Food just tastes better when it’s natural and prepared with your own hands. Cooking can be fun, and as people eat well, they gain energy and feel their moods brighten, which can help build confidence and add perspective in therapy.

As you learn to cook these foods that support your recovery and goals, we teach you all about each component of the foods you eat and how they interact with your body. The more you learn about how your body reacts to certain foods, the better you can construct nutritional plans for yourself at home once you leave treatment. Along the way, you learn that the addictive substances you consume upset the balance you strive to create by eating well. There are always lessons to be learned in every aspect of treatment, and nutrition is no different.

[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”125792″]Wellness Supports Nutrition and Vice Versa
[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”110224″]Healthy nutrition fuels the body so that we can be more active. When we’re active and engage in exercises that help to open the spirit and release pent-up feelings, we feel much better. The healthier we feel on the inside, the more likely we are to feel confident enough to try new things. When the body is healthy, we think more clearly, and this is the key to refocusing the addictive brain. Since we have a variety of clients from different backgrounds that may never have engaged in exercise for wellness, our activities start off with the basics and progress as the group evolves. We offer hiking and walking groups as well as guided meditation and yoga classes.

About Our Founders

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”681309″]Enlightened Solutions was founded by Jennifer Hansen, Robert Snyder, and Terri Burns, who have a deep passion for helping those struggling with substance abuse disorders.

With a combined 45+ years invested in their personal recoveries, they have assisted in the restoration of countless lives, helping them break free from the chains that bind those suffering from addiction. Their vision for Enlightened Solutions is based on the philosophy that recovery can be fun as well as enlightening, and can feed the mind, body, and soul through holistic therapies. The recovery process at Enlightened Solutions is all about lending a helping hand to a friend in need, and each client will experience this from the moment they pick up the phone and call, until long after their treatment is complete.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ back_color=”color-green” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”127417″ back_color_type=”uncode-palette” shape_dividers=””][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ style=”dark” overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ width=”1/3″ uncode_shortcode_id=”833306″][vc_icon icon_image=”17643″ media_size=”200″ uncode_shortcode_id=”141844″ title=”Jennifer Hansen’s Story” el_class=”border-radius-100″]Jennifer Hansen went from living on the street with a $300-a-day heroin habit to becoming a role model and advocate for those struggling with substance abuse issues. Through her non-profit organization, The Hansen Foundation, she has founded halfway houses and sober living facilities for men and women alike. Jennifer is also a certified yoga instructor, and follows a holistic way of life through organic eating, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and herbal remedies. Her personal experiences taught her that recovery does not end after short-term rehabilitation, and that more resources are necessary to ensure long-term stability and growth. The Hansen Foundation was the beginning, and through Enlightened Solutions, Jennifer seeks to continue filling this void and reaching out to addicts in need.
